           Alachua County   } Know all men by these presents
that whereas I Vick Land of the County of Alachua and State of Florida
have on this sixth day of December AD 1886 made executed and delivered
to Joanna Magee of the County of Alachua and State of Florida my two
Certain promissory notes, the 1st of said notes being given for the sum of
Two hundred Dollars and bearing interest at the rate of twenty per cent per
annum the 2nd of said notes being given for the sum of Five hundred Dollars
($500) and bearing interest at the rate of Eighteen per cent per annum, the inter
est payable on both of said notes semiannually and both payable
one year after date, with interest from the first day of December AD
1886 and whereas to better secure the payment of said notes according to
their tenor and effect I did mortgage to the said Joanna Magee the fol-
lowing described lands in Alachua County Florida. To wit:
Block number nine (9) of Browns addition to the Town of Gainesville said
Mortgage bearing date of December 6th AD 1886 and whereas the said
Joanna Magee did require me to pay off and liquidate the outstanding
taxes due the State of Florida, County of Alachua and Town of Gainesville
for the years 1884 and 1885 and also to secure a good and responsible
Endorser on both of said above described notes as additional Security
in connection with said above mentioned mortgage and whereas the
Said Taxes due and unpaid "on said above described property do now
amount to the sum of Seventy & 46/100 dollars. And whereas Josiah
T. Walls of the County of Alachua and State of Florida has this
day advanced to me the sum of Seventy & 46/100 dollars to pay said taxes
on said lands above described for the years 1884, 1885 and also the
further Sum of Ten dollars for my own use and has also become at
my request endorser on the two Notes above described as made
and delivered by me" to Joanna Magee whereby he has bound
himself to pay said notes in case of my default when the Same
become due"" and payable, Now therefore in Consideration of my Said
indebtedness to the said Josiah T. Walls in the said sum of money
by him advanced to me as aforesaid to wit" the said several
sums of $7046 and of Ten dollars and the further consideration
of his having become Endorser for me on the Two Notes aforesaid
I the said Vick Land and Rosa his wife who joins him in the Ex
ecution of this mortgage for the purpose of relinquishing my right
of dower in and to the property hereinafter described do hereby
and by these presents do mortgage to the said Josiah T. Walls his
heirs and assigns the following described property to wit:
All of Block nine (9) of Browns addition to the Town of Gainesville
Alachua County Florida, less fifteen feet all around reserved for Streets
The Condition of this Obligation is Such, That if I the said Vick
Lang Shall pay or cause to be paid to the said Josiah T. Walls
