as follows "to wit", One Prairie cream Horse, with right hind and left
fore feet white, star in forehead, and white splotch on nose branded (N)
Eight head of cattle marked with two under bits in one ear and split
in the other branded E.S. To have and to Hold the said Horse and
Cattle to the sole use and benefit of the said D.M. Zetrouer his Executors
Administrators and assigns forever, Provided nevertheless, and these presents
are upon this Express condition that if the said Elias Strong shall well and
truly pay or cause to be paid "as stipulated," his certain promissory note of even
date herewith drawn by said Elias Strong for the sum of ($90 00/100) Ninety Dollars
and payable in monthly installments "to wit." Ten dollars to be paid on or
about the 15th of each month, the first installment to be paid the 15th day of
January and the Note to be paid in full by the 15th day of September 1887
to the said D.M. Zetrouer or order with interest from date, then this Convey
ance shall be void: otherwise to be and remain in full force and virtue
The said Elias Strong hereby covenants that on default of payment or
any sale or attempt to sell or to remove from the County or attempt to secrete
abuse or misuse or upon any seizure by any process of law or if from any
other cause the security of the mortgage Shall become inadequate then the
said Mortgage or his successors, may take immediate possession of
said Horse and cattle wherever found and dispose of the same at pub
lic or private sale for the highest price that can be obtained and shall apply
the proceeds of said sale to the payment of said note and interest thereon
and of all reasonable and necessary cash and shall pay the residue of
any remain to said Elias Strong or Successors. In witness whereof I the
said Elias Strong have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal on
this 12th day of January AD 1887 }           his
