State of Florida  } Know all men by these presents that whereas 
County of Alachua } Joel W. Malphurs of above State and County is indebt
ed to Henry Thomas of the same State and County in the sum of Seventy
Two dollars lawful money of the United States which said sum is Express
ed in one certain promissory note bearing date February 26th 1887 and 
for the said sum of Seventy Two dollars and falling due on first day
December AD 1887 with interest at one pr ¢ pr Annum from date until paid
Now therefore to better secure said Henry Thomas in full payment of 
said Note and interest as Expressed I do by these presents grant bargain
sell and Convey unto the said Henry Thomas his heirs and assigns
the following described property to wit: Two Oxens and one Ox Cart
now in my possession, Nineteen Head of Stock Hogs now in my pos-
session, one white mare Horse about six years old named Lou
To have and to Hold all and singular the personal property above 
bargained and sold unto the said Henry Thomas his heirs Executors 
administrators and assigns forever. Provided nevertheless that 
if the said Joel W. Malphurs should well and truly pay or cause 
to be paid unto the said Henry Thomas the full amount of said 
Note together with the interest according to its tenor and effect 
then this instrument to be void else to remain in full force 
and virtue. And it is hereby further agreed that should it be
come necessary to enforce this instrument by legal proceedings 
the said Joel W. Malphurs will pay therefor all attorneys fees 
Charges and Expenses. In witness whereof I hereunto set my hand 
and affix my seal this 26th day of February AD 1887
