State of Florida } Know all men by these Presents, That whereas 
Alachua County   } Surry Ross and Martha Ross his wife of the
above State and County is indebted to Wilbur L. Jackson merchant
of the same State and County in the sum of One hundred dollars 
which the said sum is covenanted to be paid by a certain promis
sory note bearing date with this instrument and for the said sum 
of One hundred dollars bearing interest at the rate of 10% from 
date and due on Nov 1st 1887. Now therefore to better secure the payment
of said note and interest as Expressed therein we do we do by these 
presents grant bargain sell and Convey unto the said Wilbur L. Jackson (mer
chant his heirs and assigns all my right title interest and claim of in and 
to all the crops of whatsoever species Kind or description now growing or which 
may hereafter be planted grown or gathered by me or for me or for my benefit 
on or off of any and all lands in Alachua County Florida: Also the follow
ing described property to wit: One Gray mare about 5 Years old, also one
Bay Horse about 4 Years old also forty acres of land which is described
upon the United States Land Office records as our homestead
To have and to Hold all and Singular the crops lands and personal 
property above bargained and sold unto the said Wilbur L. Jackson
merchant heirs Executors administrators and assigns forever. Provided 
nevertheless that if the said Surry Ross and Martha Ross his wife
should well and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said Wilbur L.
Jackson Merchant the full amount of said note together with the interest 
according to its tenor and effect then this instrument to be void else 
to remain in full force and virtue. And it is hereby further agreed 
that should it become necessary to enforce this instrument by le
gal proceedings the said Surry Ross and Matha Ross will pay 
therefor all attorneys fees and expenses. In Witness whereof we have
hereunto set our hands and affixed our seals the Nineteenth day of November AD 1886
