Nathan C. Pettit }
State of Florida  } Know all men by these Presents that whereas I Prince McQueen
County of Alachua } of the above State and County is indebted to Nathan C. Pettit of
the same State and County in the sum of Sixty five dollars which said sum is 
covenanted to be paid by one certain promissory note bearing date    and for 
the said Sum of Sixty five dollars bearing interest at the rate of ten per cent per 
annum, Now therefore to better Secure the payment of said note and interest as 
Expressed therein, I do by these presents grant bargain sell and Convey unto the 
Said Nathan C. Pettit to his heirs and assigns all my right title interest and 
Claim of in and to all Crops of whatsoever Species Kind or description 
now growing or which may here after be planted grown or gathered by me 
or for me or for my benefit on or off of any and all lands in Alachua 
County Florida, Also the following described property to wit: One dark 
Chestnut Colored mare (four feet white) named "Frozel" also one Bay Stallion 
Horse named "Bill." To Have and to hold all and singular the Crops 
lands and personal property above bargained and sold unto the said Nathan
C. Pettit his heirs Executors Administrators and assigns forever. Provided 
Nevertheless that if the said Prince McQueen should well and truly pay or 
Cause to be paid unto the said Nathan C. Pettit the full amount of said 
Note together with the interest according to its tenor and effect then this 
instrument to be void else to remain in full force and virtue, and 
Should the said Prince McQueen abuse said Horses, said N.C. Pettit shall take
said possession immediately, and it is hereby further agreed, that should it
become necessary to enforce this instrument by legal proceedings the said 
Prince McQueen will pay therefor all attorneys fees Charges and Expenses
In witness whereof I hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal 
this fifteenth day of January AD 1887                             his
