State of Florida  } Know all men by these presents, that whereas Wm S. Nelson of
County of Alachua }  
the above State and County is indebted to N.C. Pettit Administrator of the same State 
and County in the sum of Thirty Seven 97/100 dollars which said Sum is covenanted to 
be paid by one certain promissory note bearing date  with these presents and for 
the said sum of Thirty Seven 97/100 dollars bearing interest at the rate of ten 
per cent per annum. Now therefore to better secure the payment of said note 
and interest as expressed therein I do by these presents grant bargain sell and Convey 
unto the said N.C. Pettit Administrator Truman Doane heirs and assigns all my 
right title interest and claim of in and to all the crops of whatsoever Species Kind 
or description now growing or which may hereafter be planted grown or 
gathered by me or for me or for my benefit on or off of any and all 
lands in Alachua County Florida. And also the following described property 
to wit, One two horse wagon, Iron axle now in my possession: To 
have and to Hold all and Singular the Crops lands and personal property 
above bargained and sold unto the said Nathan C. Pettit Administrator
his heirs Executors Administrators and Assigns forever, Provided neverthe
less that if the said Wm S. Nelson should well and truly pay or cause to be 
paid unto the said N.C. Pettit the full amount of said note together with 
the interest according to its tenor and effect then this instrument to be 
void, else to remain in full force and virtue, and it is hereby further 
agreed that should it become necessary to enforce this instrument by 
legal proceedings the said Wm S. Nelson will pay therefor all attorneys 
fees Charges and Expenses.     In witness whereof I have hereunto 
set my hand and affixed my seal this tenth day of February AD 1887
