W.N. Sheats }
State of Florida  } Know all men by these presents, That whereas T. Denby
County of Alachua } a bachelor of above State and County is indebted to W.N.
Sheats of the same State and County in the sum of One Hundred (100) dollars lawful 
money of the United States which said sum is expressed in two Certain promissory 
notes bearing date April 2nd 1887 and for the said sum of One hundred (100)
dollars and^one note for $5000 falling due on May 2nd 1887, one for $5000falling
due June 2nd AD 1887, with interest at 12 per cent per annum. Now therefore to better 
secure said W.N. Sheats in full payment of said notes and interest as Expressed 
I do by these presents grant bargain sell and Convey unto the said W.N. Sheats his
heirs and assigns all my right title interest and claim of in and to the
following described property to wit: One certain light bay medium size mare
mule (named pet) this day bought of W.N. Sheats, To have and to Hold the
above described mule, above bargained and Sold unto the said W.N. Sheats his
heirs Executors administrators and assigns forever, Provided nevertheless that 
if the said T. Denby a bachelor should well and truly pay or cause to be paid 
unto the said W.N. Sheats the full amount of said Note together with the interest 
according to its tenor and effect then this instrument to be void, else 
to remain in full force and virtue. And it is hereby further agreed that 
should it become necessary to enforce this instrument by legal proceed
ings the said T. Denby will pay therefor all attorneys fees charges and
Expenses. In Witness Whereof I hereunto set my hand and affix my seal 
this 2d day of April AD 1887
