                Spring Term AD 1897
               Tuesday May 18th 1897,
Whereupon at the request of Syd L. Carter State Attorney
M.M. Allred, was duly sworn in as assistant state at-
torney by the Clerk, for this present term of the Court,
State of Florida }
       vs        } Assault With Intent to
Thomas Douglas   } Murder,
                And now this cause coming on to be
heard Syd L. Carter state attorney, M.M. Allred Assistant
state attorney prosecuting in the name and by the authority of
the state of Florida and the prisoner Thomas Douglas appearing
in open court in his proper person, as also his attorney J.A.
Ammons Esquire, was arraigned and upon his arraignment
pleaded guilty and asked the mercy of the Court,

State of Florida }
       vs        } Sentence
Thomas Douglas   } And now the prisoner Thomas
Douglas being in open court for sentence was demanded
if he had anything to say why the sentence of the law should
not be passed upon him saith nothing
 Whereupon the Court sentenced the prisoner in manner and form
as follows, to-wit: -
          The sentence of the law is, that you Thomas
Douglas, be imprisoned by confinement in the state prison
at hard labor for two years,

      vs         } Larceny of Domestic Animal
Tim Bailey       }
                 }
                    And now this cause coming on to be heard
Syd L. Carter State Attorney and M.M. Allred Assistant state
Attorney prosecuting in the name and by the authority of the
state of Florida and the prisoner Tim Bailey appearing in open
court in his proper person, as also, his attorneys Evans Haile
and S.Y. Finley Esquires, was arraigned, and upon his ar-
raignment saith that he is not guilty and for good and 
evil puts himself upon God and his Country for Trial.
 Whereupon a Jury was called and these came, Rufus
Putman, J.F. Perry, J.J. Parrish, J.D. Caldwell, F.J. Bates
and H.R. Fewell, who were duly empannelled and sworn
to well and truly try the issue between the state of Florida
and the defendant according to the evidence, and the Jury
aforesaid after hearing the evidence, the argument of counsel
and charge of the Court retired to consider of their verdict, and
