  The above instrument consisting of four pages was now here
subscribed by David H. Roe the testator in the presence of each
of us and was at the same time declared by him to be his
last Will and testament and at his request sign our names
hereunto as attesting witness

  James Durland and John T. Thompson
of the town of Chester in the County of Orange having on
this fourteenth day of December in the year one thousand
eight hundred and eighty, personally appeared before Henry
A. Wadsworth the Surrogate of the County of Orange and being
by the said Surrogate duly sworn and examined depose and
and each says, "That he was well acquainted with David H.
Roe late of the town of Chester in said County of Orange
deceased. That they were present as witnesses and did
see the said David H. Roe now deceased by writing his
name subscribe at the end thereof the instrument now
produced and shown to deponents purporting to be the
last Will and Testament of the said David H. Roe de-
ceased, bearing date the 4th day of November in the
year One thousand and eight hundred and eighty
      That such Subscription was made by the said
David H. Roe now deceased in the presence of these depo-
nents And each of them and at the same time the
attesting witnesses to said Will That the said David
H. Roe at the same time declared to said witnesses
the instrument so subscribed by him to be his last Will
and Testament. Whereupon these deponents in the
presence of each other and of said testator each signed
his name at the end of said Will at the request of
the said testator now deceased And that the said
David H. Roe at the time of executing and publishing
the said last will and Testament was of full age of
