Fall Term AD 1880
Monday-November 15th 1880
At a regular
term of the Circuit Court of the Fifth
Judicial Circuit of Florida in and for the County
of Alachua begun and held in the Court House
in the town of Gainesville Florida the following
proceedings were begun and held to wit:
At which was present His Honer James B.
Dawkins Judge of the Fifth Judicial Cir-
cuit of Florida. William A Hocker States
Attorney for the Fifth Judicial Circuit of
Florida John W. Turner sheriff of Alachua
County and J.A. Carlisle Clerk of the Cir-
cuit Court of Alachua County.
Whereupon
The Sheriff of Alachua County having
returned the Venire Facias for the Grand
Jury for this the Fall Term of our Circuit
Court as having been duly executed by
Summoning each of the following therein
named persons to wit: 1. Daniel Chesser,
2. Thos A. Johnson, 3. John G. Dampier, 4.T.
A. Carroll, 5. James Celon, 6. L.A. Jernigan,
7. S.P. Cox, 8. Allen Goolsby and 9. T.B. Knight and
that 1. W J McGeehee, 2. T.M. Dixon, 3. Judge Adkins,
4. J.W. Flewellen, 5. H.C. Carver, 6. Geo Bobo,
7. A. Higginbothom, 8. J.S. Davis and Jas G. Mathis
were not to be found in the County.
Whereupon the Court for good and sufficient
cause excused, Thos A Johnson, Jas Celon
and L A Jernigan from further attendance
on the Court.
Whereupon the Court issued the
following order to wit:
Alachua County
Fall Term 1880
It appearing that there is a deficiency of
Grand Jurors in attendance upon this term
of the Court is is ordered that 15 Jurors be
drawn from the list of 300 to serve as
Grand Jurors at this term of the Court
or so many as be necessary to fill up such
