Fall Term  A.D.  1880
          Friday November  19th  1880
The State of Florida     }
     vs                  }     assault with intent to Murder
Joseph J. Tillis and     }
Aaron J. DaCosta         }
                         }     And now this cause coming
on to be heard W.A. Hocker state attorney prosecuting
in the name and by the authority of the state
of Florida and the Prisoners appearing in their
own proper person as well as by their attorneys
Messrs. Thrasher and Hampton and Taylor and Sanchez
and the Prisoners being now brought to the Bar
have under the Custody of John W. Turner
Sheriff of Alachua County to which Sheriff
they are also likewise Committed and being forth-
with demanded how they would acquit them-
selves of the charges against them saith
that they are not guilty as the Indictment alleges
and for good and evil they put themselves
upon God and the County for Trial.  Whereupon
a Jury was called and then Came - S. Guthrie
I.U. Malphurs, W.O. Colson, Benj Haile, Bert
Hague and R.H. Hawkins who were well and
         and empanelled 
truly Sworn^to well and truly try the difference
pending and thereafter after hearing the evidence
the argument of Counsel and the Charge of the
Court retired to Consider of their verdict under
instructions from the Court to bring in a sealed
verdict on tomorrow morning at nine oclock
Whereupon
     The Court adjourned until nine oclock
tomorrow morning.

     Saturday November 20th  1880
The Court met Pursuant to adjournment his
Honor James B. Dawkins Judge presiding
The State of Florida     }   
     vs                  }     assault with intent to
J.J. Tillis and          }     murder
A.J. DaCosta             }
                         }     And now the Jury who
had been duly sworn and empanelled on
yesterday Came into open Court and ren-
dered the following verdict to wit:
We the Jury find the Defandants not Guilty so say we
