Adjourned Fall Term of 1882
    Monday January 22nd 1882
to appoint Mr S.P. Bevill a Master in Chancery of this Court

  Whereupon S.P. Bevill being now in open court was
duly sworn as by law required to be
                        In Circuit Court of Alachua County
                        5th Judicial Circuit of Florida
                                In Chancery
  It is hereby ordered that S.P. Bevill be and he is hereby
appointed and authorized as a Master in Chancery of the
Circuit Court of Alachua County in the 5th Judicial Circuit
of Florida in Chancery generally in all causes which may 
hereafter be submitted to him for the purpose of taking
testimony therein and accountings therein and generally
to do all things pertaining to the position or office of
Master in Chancery
   In open court this 22nd day of January AD

  To Honorable E.J. Vann and members of the
Gainesville Bar the Committee appointed by your Honor
to prepare and present to the court suitable and
appropriate token and expression of regard for our
deceased Brother Barton H. Thrasher who died in this
city on the night of the 26th day of June AD 1883 aged
45 years 10 month & 27 days respectfully submit the following
as their report
      Colonel Thrasher was borne in Morgan County Ga
on the 29th day of July 1836 he attended Penfield College
(now Mercer University) Ga & afterwards the Law School at
Louisville Ky in 1854  In 1856 he moved to Troy Ala where
he engaged in the prctice of Law for two years  he then
married & turned his attention to farming until 1866 at which 
time he resumed the practice of his chosen profession  Deceased
remained in Atlanta until 1876 when he moved to Florida
with a view of engaging in Orange Culture.  But finding
this vocation ill suited to the natural inclinations of
his cultured mind he again determined to resume the practice
of law.  In the fall of 1877 he opened a Law office in
