Adjourned Fall Term of 1882
Monday January 22nd 1883
Gainesville and at once commanded a large and lucrative
practice it was here that the deceased became known to our Bar
and during his short career at our Bar Colonel Thrasher won
for himself and enviable reputation. His breadth of Culture powers
of oratory and profound knowledge of law soon placed him
in the front rank of the legal profession of this State and
was universally concede to be one of the most successfull
Lawyers. But his love for and devotion to his chozen profession
did not prevent his taking and active interest in all that concerned
the welfare of the community or of the State. As a man the
deceased possessed many warm generous and noble impulses
In social circles he was greatly admired & his hospitality
was of a most princely Character. As a friend he was earnest
faithful, and true. He was unusually positive in his
convictions & when once he advocated any cause he dared maintain
it. The death of such a man so capable and so worthy
is not only a family bereavement but also a public loss a
great loss to the profession, to the State & to the Country be it
therefore
Resolved in Christ with abiding affection and
reverance the memory of our departed Brother Barton
H. Thrasher and we tender our sincere and affectionate
sympathies to his sorrowing Family
Resolved that on a page of the minutes of the
Circuit Court of Alachua County be spread these proceedings
of the Bar of this court and that the City papers be
requested to publish the same and that a copy be
furnished to the family of the deceased

morning
