Whereupon
the Court for good and Sufficient excuse
excused A.B. Cox, Jno O. Cosby, and S.H. Richardson
from further attendance at this term of the Court
Whereupon
the Court ordered a fine of Twenty Dollars
to be entered up against S.H. Benjamin, Joseph
Voyle and W.W. Richardson as defaulting Jurors -
Whereupon
At a meeting of the Members of the
bar of the Circuit Court of Alachua County Florida
held on the 21st day of April 1883
Hon Thomas F. King
was called to the chair and E.C.F. Sanchez Esq
appointed Secretary.
The object of the meeting having
been explained by S.Y. Finley Esqr on Motion of
W.W. Hampton Esqr a Committee Composed of Hon
John W. Ashby, ***** W.W. McCall and W.W. Hampton
Esqr were appointed to draft suitable resolutions
in Commemoration of the death of the Hon James B.
Dawkins
Judge Ashby as Chairman of the Committee
reported the following preamble and resolutions
which were adopted and he was instructed to
present them to the Court:
Whereas the Hon James B.
Dawkins late Judge of the 5th Judicial Circuit of
of Florida departed this life on the 12th day of Feb-
ruary 1883 in the Sixty third year of his age loved and
respected by all who knew him therefore be it
Resolved
That in the death of Judge Dawkins the
Community has lost a genial kind and accomplished
gentleman friend and neighbor, and the State one of
its most learned Jurist, A man of high integrity
and of marked ability and zeal in the discharge
of every duty
