And now this cause coming on to
be heard William A. Hocker State attorney prose-
cutting in the name and by the authority of the State
of Florida and the prisoner appearing in his own
proper person as well as by his attorneys Messrs Finley
& Hampton and now the prisoner here being brought to
the bar here under the Custody of Samuel C. Tucker
Sheriff of Alachua County to which Sheriff he is also
likewise committed and being forthwith demanded
how he would acquit himself of the Charges against
him saith that he is not guilty as the Indictment
alleges against him and for good and evil he puts
himself upon God and the County whereupon a Jury
was called and there came Geo Cook, E.A. Jeffords
G.D. Chesser, Geo S. Riggs Benj Haile and W.M. Brad-
ford who were duly sworn and empanelled to well and
try try the difference pending between the state of
Florida and the prisoner at the bar and thereafter
after hearing the evidence the argument of counsel
and the charge of the Court retired to consider of their
verdict and thereafter on the Same day returned into
open Court and rendered the following verdict to wit:
"We the Jury find the defendant guilty of an aggra-
vated assault W.M. Bradford
Foreman

And now this Cause is Continued
