        Fall Term A.D. 1883 -
          Thursday December 6th 1883
        State of Florida  }  Hocker
No 54            vs       }  Robbery
        Fred Spicer alias }  Finley & McCall
        Flem Spicer       }
                          } And now this cause coming
        on to be heard William A. Hocker State attorney
        prosecuting in the name and by the authority
        of the State of Florida and the prisoner ap-
        pearing on his own proper person as well as by
        his attorneys Messers Finley & McCall And now
        the prisoner Fred Spicer alias Flem Spicer being
        brought to the bar of the Court here under the
        custody of Samuel C. Tucker Sheriff of Alachua
        County to which Sheriff he is also likewise
        Committed and being forthwith demanded how
        he would acquit himself of the Charge against
        him saith that he is not guilty as the in-
        dictment alleges against him and for good
        and evil he puts himself upon God and the
        Country for trial Whereupon a Jury was called
        and there came 1 John Kite - 2 Jacob J. Caile -
        3. G.H. Tyson 4. S.T. Richardson 5. M.F. Davis - 6 C.C.
        Neal who were duly Sworn and empanelled 
        to well and truly try the difference pending accor-
        ding to the evidence and thereafter after hearing
        the evidence the argument of Counsel and the
        Charge of the Court retired to consider
        of their verdict and thereafter on the Same
        day returned into open Court and rendered
        the following verdict to wit: We the Jury
        find the prisoner Guilty so say we all
                                 S.T. Richardson
                                     Foreman

        Whereupon the Counsel in open Court gave
        notice orally that they would make a motion
        for a new trial

        Whereupon the Court adjourned until ten
        oclock tomorrow morning
