Attorney prosecuting in the name and by
the authority of the State of Florida and
the prisoner appearing in his own proper per-
son as well as by his attorney S.Y. Finley and
now the prisoner Jack Monroe being brought to
the Bar of the Court here under the Custody
of Samuel C. Tucker Sheriff of Alachua
County to which Sheriff he is also likewise
Committed and being forthwith demanded
how he would acquit himself of the Charge
against him saith that he is not guilty as the
Indictment alleges against him and for
good and evil he puts himself upon God and
the Country for trial whereupon a Jury was
