Spring Term A.D. 1884
  Monday April 21st 1884
Whereupon the panel of the Grand Jury being
now completed to seventeen in Number under
the order of the Court the Grand Jury retired
to select a foreman

Whereupon the Grand Jury Came into open
Court and announced that they had
Selected G.A.M. Rains as their Foreman -

Whereupon the following named persons were
duly Sworn and empanelled as the Grand
Jury at this the Spring Term of our Circuit
Court to wit:
1 G.A.M. Rains, Foreman 2. G.S. Merchant 3
J.J. Jones 4. B.F. Parker 5. Joshua Hodge
6. Frank B. Dell 7. Z.T. Penland 8. W.C. Miller
9. J.E. Mathews 10. E.A. Adkins 11. W.C. Hague
12 Isaac Guinn 13. S.G. Mathews 14 J.H. Massey
15 James M. Brown 16 C.A. Sheldon and 17. J.F.
Donaldson
Whereupon the Court now leaving Charged the
Grand Jury John B. Coker is duly Sworn as
Bailiff to the Same

Whereupon the Grand Jury retired to their
Room -

Whereupon the Sheriff Samuel C. Ticker
having returned the Venire Facias for the Petit
Jury for the 1st Week of this the Spring
Term of Our Circuit Court as being duly
executed by Summoning 1 T.H. cato 1. H.K. New-
berry 3. J.M. Faircloth, 4. C.H. Foster 5. H.N. Richard 6.
Joseph Guinn 7. Joseph Blake 8. Simeon Fagan
9. A. Hague Sr. 10 John F. Perry 11. Ned E. Farrell 12
J.H. Cason 13 V.H. Ellis and 14 G.W. Shuford and
that E.R. Rivers, L.M. Evertson, J.A. Hill and James
R. Hague Sr. were not to be found in the County

Whereupon the Court for good and sufficient Cause
shown excused C.H. Foster and Ned E. Farrell
from further attendance on this Court

And now J.M. Faircloth having been duly
summoned to appear as a Petit Juror for
