Thursday December 4th 1884
Pettit Jury can be drawn and summoned in the manner
provid by law for the next week of this term. The Clerk is
ordered to issue a special venire to be directed to the
Sheriff of the County Commanding him to summon from the
body of the County at Large Eighteen persons qualified to
serve as Petit Jurors for the second week of this term of
the Court and cause them to appear before the Court at
10 Oclock Monday 8th Dec 1884.

The Court met pursuant to adjournment of yes-
terday His Honor Thomas F. King Judge presiding

And now on this day this Cause
coming on to be heard William A. Hocker State
attorney prosecuting in the name and by the au-
thority of the State of Florida. And the prisoner
appearing in open Court in his own proper person
as well as by his attorneys Mess Taylor & Sanchez
And now the prisoner being brought to the bar there
under the custody of Samuel C. Tucker Sheriff of
Alachua County to which Sheriff he is also likewise
committed and being now forthwith demanded how
he would acquit himself of the charge against
him saith that he is not guilty as the Indict-
ment alleges and for good and evil he puts
himself upon God and the Country for trial - Whereupon
a Jury was called and there came J.R. Tompkins
J.J. Thompson, Jno Dogan, Marcus Endel, Geo R.
Ellis and T.A. Carroll who were duly Sworn and
empanelled to well and truly try the issue between the State
of Florida and the defendant according to the evidence
and the Jury aforesaid after hearing the
evidence the argument of Counsel and the Charge
of the Court retired to consider of their Verdict
