Spring Term A.D. 1885
Friday May 8th 1885
after hearing the evidence and the charge of the
Court retired to Consider of their verdict and
thereafter on the Same day returned into open
Court and rendered the following verdict to wit:
We the Jury find Richard Clark guilty So Say we
all J.W. Burnett
May 8th 1885 Foreman
State of Florida }
vs } Sentence
Richard Clark }
}And now the prisoner being in
open Court for sentence was demanded if he
had any thing to Say why Sentence should not
be passed upon him Saith nothing
Whereupon the Court Sentenced Richard Clark
to Confinement in the State Prison at hard
labor for the Space of Three (3) months

And now this Cause coming on
to be heard W.A. Hocker State attorney prosecuting
in the name and by the authority of the State of
Florida and the prisoner appearing in his own proper
person as well as by his attorney Mess Hughes
& Finley and now the prisoner being demanded how he
would acquit himself of the Charge against him
Saith that he is not guilty whereupon a Jury was
called and there came E.A. Adkins - P.W. Cato Jr.
Ferdinand Bayer, G.H. Ambrose, Joseph Guinn, & T.B.
Pearson who were duly Sworn and empanelled to try
the difference pending and thereafter after hearing the
evidence the argument of Counsel and the Charge of
the Court retired to Consider of their verdict
and thereafter on the Same day returned into open
Court and rendered the following verdict to wit:
We the Jury find the defendant not guilty So Say
we all Geo H. Ambrose - Foreman
Whereupon the prisoner was discharged from Custody
