Monday May 18th 1885
to the Court without argument of Counsel whereupon
the Court after consideration thereof ordered that said
motion for a new trial should be overruled to which
said order and decision of the Court the Defendant
by its Counsel then and there excepted Whereupon
the Court upon the application of the Defendant
allowed said defendant (60) sixty days in which
to present a Bill of Exceptions
And now as an amendment to the minutes of
May 12th 1885,
It is ordered that whereas Charles W.
Lakin having presented in open Court a Certif-
icate of the Supreme Court of Wisconsin of
his admission to practice as an Attorney and
Counsellor at Law and Solicitor in Chancery, that
he be duly Sworn as an attorney and Counsellor at
Law and solicitor in Chancery for the State of
Florida and that the Said Charles W. Lakin
be and is hereby admitted to practice in all
the Courts of the State of Florida.
To the Hon Thos F. King Judge of the Circuit
Court of the 5th Judicial Circuit of Fla in and for
Alachua County
The Petition of J.C. Brown respectfully
Showeth unto Your Honor that he is a Citizen of Alachua
County State of Florida that he is Twenty one years of
age and of god moral character
Your Petitioner wishes to obtain a
License to practice Law in the Courts of this State and
now prays your Honor to examine unto the qualifications
of your Petitioner and if from any cause it shall be
inconvenient for your Honor personally to examine into
the qualifications of your Petitioner prays your Honor to
appoint two members of this Bar to examine and report
as to your Petitioners qualifications and if your Petitioner
shall be found qualified your Petitioner prays your Honor
to grant him a License to practice Law in the Courts
of this State and to order that said License shall be entered
upon the minutes of said Courts and Your Petitioner
will ever pray &c J.C. Brown
