Spring Term  AD May  1885
        Tuesday May 19th 1885
      respectfully submit the following -
In his death we feel that we have not only met
with a professional loss but a personal bereavement
possessed of an engaging address and the graces of
eloquence he won great distinction on the stump and
at the Bar as early as the year AD 1856 he was chosen
a Presidential Elector for Tillman & Donelson subse-
quently he served a number of years in the State Senate
from Monroe County he moved to Gainesville but
a few years ago and in every political Campaign
took an active part in the interest of the
political party of his Choice - In 1884 he was
almost unaminously chosen the candidate of the
Democratic party of Alachua County for the
State Senate from this District and and after an
earnest and zealous fight was defeated by the
Republican Candidate - Prior to his Candidacy
he was Stricken down with a Serious illness but
became convalescent and took an active part in
the Canvass. Very soon after the election a relapse
came upon him which terminated in death. Mr
McCall was a man of most remarkable gifts
and talents he was generous open hearted
and liberal in all of his views. He was a warm
earnest friend and a zealous patriotic citizen
loved his Country and honored his profession
as a Criminal lawyer he enjoyed a large repu-
tation throughout the State the defense of a poor
helpless Criminal was the pride of his heart
We are informed that the deceased became resigned
to death during his last illness and passed away
without alarm for the future -
In memory of his manly worth distinguished
endearments of mind and amiable qualities of
heart and life be it
Resolved that in the death of William Wallace
McCall after painful suffering protracted
through Several months we Sorrow for the loss of one
of our number whom we admired and esteemed
for his many estimable gifts of mind and heart
and whose success in life won honor no less
for our profession than for himself -
Resolved that deeply and Sincerely feeling
the personal professional and public loss
which we and the Communtiy have sustained
