acquit himself of the Charge against him Saith
that he is guilty as the Indictment alleges

And now the prisoner Henry
Carter being demanded if he had any thing to
Say why Sentence should not be passed upon
him saith nothing: Whereupon the Court sen-
tenced the Prisoner Henry Carter to Confinement
in the County Jail at hard labor for the space
of Fifteen (15) days -

And now this cause coming on
to be heard W.A. Hocker State atty prosecuting in
the name and by the authority of the State
of Florida and the prisoner appearing in his
own proper person as well as J.H. Goss his
atty and being demanded how he would acquit
himself of the charge against him saith that
he is not guilty whereupon a Jury was called
and there came John F. Donaldson - J.M. Dell
Wm Ellis, Roth Reynolds Jos A. Shannon
S.J. Burnett who were duly Sworn and empan-
elled to well and truly try the difference pend
ing and thereafter after hearing the evidence the
argument of Counsel and the Charge of the
Court retired to consider of their verdict
and thereafter on the Same day returned
into open Court and rendered the fol-
lowing verdict to wit: We the Jury find the
prisoner guilty of the Crime for which he is
indicted Roth Reynolds Foreman
Whereupon the Court Sentenced the
Prisoner Nelson Ross to Confinement in the
County Jail at hard labor for the space of
Three (3) months
