Spring Term A.D. 1886
Wednesday May 12th 1886
Country for trial Whereupon a Jury was called and there came
J.H. Dampier M.G. McCarroll Marion Campbell Jas Croxton J.D.
Matheson & Jas Bradshaw who were duly sworn and empanelled
to well and truly try the difference pending between the State of
Florida and the prisoner at the bar and thereafter after hearing the
evidence the argument of Counsel and the Charge of the Court
retired to consider of their verdict under instructions to bring in
a sealed verdict
Whereupon the Court adjourned until tomorrow
morning at half past Eight oclock

The Court met pursuant to adjournment of

And now the Jury in
this cause came into open Court and rendered
the following verdict to wit: We the Jury find the
Prisoner not Guilty M.G. McCarroll
May 12th 1886 } Foreman
State of Florida } Hocker & Cochran
# 55 vs } Murder
John Hardy } Taylor & Brown
And now this Cause came
on to be heard, W.A. Hocker State attorney pros-
ecuting in the name and by the authority of
the State of Florida and the prisoner appear-
ing in open Court in his own proper person as
well as by his attorneys R.F. Taylor & J.C. Brown -
Whereupon a Jury was called and there came
M.G. McCarroll, D.H. Miller, Marion Campbell, J.D.
Matheson, W.J. Knight, James Croxton, W.H. Baltzell
and J.A. Shannon and now the Venire being exhausted
there came from the bystanders D.A. Robertson W.B.
Briggs, T.W. Dawkins and S.V. Duke who were duly
and sworn to well and truly try the diference pen-
ding and thereafter after hearing the evidence
