       Spring Term  A.D. 1887
             Tuesday May 10th 1887
       And now this Cause came on to be heard on
       a motion in arrest of Judgment and the
       Court thereupon after due Consideration thereof
       decided that the motion should be granted and
       that the Indictment should be quashed -

       State of Florida }  Wigg
# 45            vs      }  Larceny of a domestic Animal
       Eli Chapman      }  Sanchez
                          And now on this day this
       Cause came on to be heard William H. Wigg
       State attorney prosecuting in the name and 
       by the authority of the State of Florida and
       the prisoner appearing in open Court in his own
       proper person as well as by E.C.F. Sanchez his
       attorney and now the prisoner being forthwith
       demanded how how would acquit himself of
       the Charge against him saith that he is not
       guilty as the Indictment alleges against
       him and for good and evil he puts himself
       upon God and the Country for trial whereupon a
       Jury was called and there came, J.C. Bell
       T.L. Brown, R.E. Wright M.J. Beckham Reuben
       May, J.I. Holbrook who were duly Sworn and
       empanelled to well and truly try the difference
       pending and thereafter after hearing the evidence
       the argument of Counsel and the Charge of the
       Court retired to Consider of their verdict and
       thereafter on the same day returned into open
       Court and rendered the following verdict to wit
       We the Jury find the prisoner guilty
                                        J.C. Bell
                                           Foreman
       State of Florida }
               vs       }  Sentence
       Eli Chapman      }
                        And now the prisoner Eli
       Chapman being in open Court for sentence
       was demanded if he had any thing to say
       why the sentence of the law should not be
       passed upon him saith nothing Whereupon
       the Court sentenced the prisoner Eli Chapman
       to confinement in the States Prison at hard
       labor for the space of Two years -
