Spring Term A.D. 1887
Wednesday May 11th 1887
of the State of Florida and the prisoner appearing in
open Court in his own proper person as well as by
John E. Lambeth Esqr and S.Y. Finley Esqr his attorneys
and now the prisoner being forthwith demanded how
he would acquit himself of the Charge against
him saith that he is not guilty as the Indictment
alleges against him and for good and evil he
puts himself upon God and the Country for trial
Whereupon a Jury was called and there came
R.E. Wright M.J. Beckham T.J. May - W.H. Thompson
B.E. Moore A.O. Steenburg who were duly Sworn
and empanelled to well and truly try the difference
pending and thereafter after hearing the evidence
the argument of Counsel and the Charge of the
Court retired to consider of their Verdict and
thereafter on the Same day returned into open Court
and rendered the following verdict to wit:
We the Jury find the prisoner guilty

And now this Cause Coming
on to be heard on a motion in arrest of
Judgment and which said motion being
now presented to the Court by Counsel the
Court being advised of its opinion doth
overrule said motion and refuse to grant
the Same

And now this motion
Coming on to be heard on a motion for a New
Trial and which said motion being now
presented to the Court by Counsel and now
the Court being advised of its opinion doth
overrule said motion and refuse to grant the
Same to both of which said rulings and
decisions of the Court the Defendant by
his Counsel did then and there except
