At a Regular Term of the Circuit Court of
the Fifth Judicial Circuit of Florida in and
for the County of Alachua begun and held
in the Court House in the City of Gainesville
Florida
At which was present His Honor James
B. Dawkins Judge of the Fifth Judicial Circuit
of Florida William A. Hocker States attorney
for the Fifth Judicial Circuit of Florida John
W. Turner Sheriff of Alachua County Julius
A. Carlisle Clerk of the Circuit Court of
Alachua County
Whereupon the Sheriff aforesaid having returned
the Venire Facias for the Grand Jury as having
been executed by Summoning each of the
following named good and lawful men
to wit: 1 F.V. Seagle 2 James Exley, 3 Stewart
St. Clair 4. B.J. Earle 5 Eli Adkins, 6 F.B. Dell
7 J.A. Carlton 8 A.L. King 9 WmBreeden 10 A. McDavid
11. H.C. Atwater, 12 Nathaniel Howland 13. J.H. Massey
14. G.W. Snider, 15 R.B. Weeks and that 1 M.J.
Adkins 2 T.B. Boulware 3 and L.C. Caren were not
to be found in the County.
Whereupon the Court for good and Sufficient Cause
Shown excused Stewart St. Clair, H.C. Atwater and
R.B. Weeks from further attendance on the Court
Whereupon the Court issued the following
Order to wit:
In Circuit Court 5th Judicial Circuit
Fall Term 1881. Alachua County
It appearing to the Court that there is an insufficiency
of Grand Jurors duly drawn and summoned in
attendance upon the Court at this Term the Clerk
is directed to draw in the manner provided by law
from the box Containing the names of the three
hundred selected Jurors the names of fifteen
persons to Serve as Grand Jurors for this Term
and to issue a venire facias directed to the Sheriff
of the County commanding him to Summon said
persons to appear instanter before the Court to
Serve as such Grand Jurors
