The Court met this day pursuant to adjournment
of yesterday His Honor J.J. Finley Judge presiding

Peter Jackson }
And now the prisoner being in
open Court for sentence was demanded why
the sentence of the law should not be passed
upon him Saith nothing whereupon the Court
Sentenced the Prisoner Peter Jackson to confine-
ment in the States prison at hard labor for
the term and space of his natural life -

And now the prisoner being
in open Court for sentence was demanded
why the sentence of the law should not be passed
upon him saith nothing, Whereupon the Court
Sentenced the prisoner Samuel Hathcock to pay
a fine of One hundred dollars together with
the Costs of this prosecution

And now this cause came
on to be heard William H. Wigg State attorney
prosecuting in the name and by the
authority of the State of Florida and the
prisoner appearing in open Court in his
own proper person as well as by His atty Chas
L. Fildes Esqr was demanded how he would
acquit himself of the Charge against him
saith that he is ^not guilty as the Indictment
alleges against him and for good and evil
he puts himself upon God and the Country
for trial -
