And now the prisoner being
in open Court for Sentence was demanded if
he had any thing to say why sentence should
not be passed upon him saith nothing
Whereupon the Court sentenced the prisoner to
Confinement at hard labor in the States Prison
for the term of Three (3) months

Willis Browder } And now on this day this
cause same on the be heard William H. Wigg
State attorney prosecuting in the name and
by the authority of the State of Florida and
the prisoner John Slater being in open Court
in his proper person as well as by his atty
A.J. Cone was demanded how he would
acquit himself of the Charge against him
Saith that he is not guilty as the Indictment
alleges against him and for good and
evil he puts himself upon God and the
Country for trial -

And now this Cause
came on to be heard on a motion for the
Continuance of this Cause and after ar-
gument had thereon both by the attorneys for
the Defendant and for the State and now
the Court being advised of his opinion doth
decide and order that said motion for the
Continuance of this Cause shall be overuled
without prejudice to the Defendant in making
further application for a continuance upon any
Sufficient grounds.
Whereupon the Court adjourned until tomorrow mng
at nine oclock
