Wednesday December 7th 1881
of Florida and the prisoner appearing in his own
proper person as well as by his attorney J.C. Gardner
and now the Prisoner being brought to the Bar here
under the Custody of John W. Turner Sheriff of Alachua
County to which Sheriff he is also likewise committed
and now being forthwith demanded how he would
acquit himself of the charge against him saith
that he is not guilty and for good and evil he puts
himself upon God and the Country for trial whereupon
a Jury was called and there came W.C. Matheson
H.C. Carver, Daniel Mott, Cy Harris J.M. Gates
A.J. DaCosta who were duly Sworn and empanelled
to well and truly try the diference pending between
the State of Florida and the Prisoner at the Bar
and thereafter after hearing the evidence and the
argument of Counsel rendered the following ver-
dict to wit: We the Jury find the prisoner Guilty

And now this Cause is continued on the
affidavit of the Defendant the Defendant being
required to give bond in the Sum of One thousand
Dollars

And now this Cause is continued on the
affidavit of the Defendant the defendants Bond
being fixed by the Court at Five hundred dollars
and the witnesses of the State being each but under
a Reconizance five hundred dollars each to appear at
the next regular term of this Court

on the affidavit of the Defendant and the prisoners
Bond fixed in the sum of five hundred dollars.
