Thursday November 18th 1880
he is not guilty as the indictment alleges
and for good and evil he put himself upon
God and the County for Trial. Whereupon a
Jury was called and then Came R.H. Haw-
kins, G.B. Evans, Earnest Wells, E.C. Garner, W.S.
Land, and James K. Leary who were duly sworn
and empanelled to well and truly try the difference
pending and thereafter after hearing the evidence
the argument of Counsel and the Charge of the
Court retired to condiser of their verdict and
thereafter on the same day returned into open
court and rendered the following verdict towit:
We the Jury find the Defendant Guilty so say we
all. W.S. Land

} and now this Cause coming on to
be heard W.A. Hocker states attorney prosecuting in
name and by the authority of the State of Florida
and the prisoner appearing in his own proper
person as well as by his attorney R.F. Taylor
Whereupon the prisoner was arraigned and upon
his arraignment saith he is not guilty as the In-
dictment alleges and for good and evil he
puts himself upon God and the County for trial
whereupon a Jury was called and then Came
D.H. Merchant, Lroy N. Pearce, W.O. Colson,
Burt Hague, S. Guthrie, I.U. Malphurs who were
duly sworn and empanelled to well and truly
try the difference pending and thereafter after
hearing the evidence the argument of Counsel
and the Charge of the Court retired to consider
of their verdict and thereafter on the same
day returned into open court and rendered the
following verdict to wit: We the Jury find
the defendent not Guilty so say we all.
