Whereupon the Court adjourned until nine o-
clock tomorrow morning

The Court met pursuant to adjournment of
yesterday his Honor James B. Dawkins Judge presi-
ding

And now this Cause coming on to
be heard W.A. Hocker State attorney prosecuting in the
name and by the authority of the State of Florida and
the prisoner appearing in his own proper person as well as
by his attorney Thos F. King and now the prisoner being
brought to the Bar here under the Custody of John W.
Turner Sheriff of Alachua County to which sheriff he is
also likewise committed and now being forth with de-
manded how he would acquit himself of the Charge
against him saith that he is not guilty as the
Indictment alleges against him and for good and
evil he puts himself upon God and the Country for
Trial whereupon a Jury was called and there came
W.C. Matheson, H.C. Carver, Daniel Mott, J.B. Brooks
Marcus Endel, J.W. Tompkins who were duly Sworn
and empanelled to well and truly try the difference
pending between the State of Florida and the
prisoner at the Bar and thereafter after hearing
the evidence the argument of Counsel and the Charge
of the Court retired to consider of there verdict
and thereafter on the Same day returned into open
Court and rendered the following verdict to wit
We the Jury find the prisoner guilty So Say we all

Whereupon the Court sentenced the prisoner to hard
labor in the State Prison for the space of one year
Whereupon the Court ordered that all other Causes
not otherwise disposed be continued Generally
