Charge instructed the Grand Jury to retire to their room in
charge of the bailiff J.R.W. Grissom who had also been duly sworn
by the Clerk
In Circuit Court 5th Judicial Circuit of Florida
Alachua County Spring Term 1899
It appearing to the Judge of this Court after selecting
the Grand Jury that there only remained in the box the
names of four persons from the regular Venire and there being
many cases ready for trial; It is ordered that the Clerk of this
Court issue a Venire to the Sheriff commanding him to summon
from the body of the County at large or from the bystanders
eight qualified persons to complete the regular panel to
serve as petit jurors for the first week of this term of Court
returnable forthwith
In open Court this 9th day of May 1899

Thereupon the Clerk issued the following Venire
The State of Florida
To L.W. Fennell Sheriff of Alachua County
Greeting:
You are hereby commanded to summon from
the bystanders or from the body of the county at large
eight persons qualified to serve as jurors to complete the
regular panel of the petit Jury for this the first week
of this term of the Court each for himself to be and
personally appear before the Judge of our Circuit Court
at the Court House in the City of Gainesville Alachua County
Florida said venire returnable forthwith
Witness the Hon W.A. Hocker Judge and the seal of
our said Court this 9th day of May AD 1899

And now comes L.W. Fennell Sheriff of Alachua County
and returns the venire for eight persons to complete the
panel of the petit Jury for this the first week of
the present Term of this Court as having been executed
by summoning the following named persons to wit
J.T. Woods D.J. Richberg M.M. Tillman W.D. Dickinson
George L. Taylor, G.T. Kennard J.B. Cullen and J.W. Shuford
in person
Whereupon W.D. Dickinson and George L. Taylor
having been examined and found disqualified were
excused from further attendance upon this Court
