                      Fall Term AD 1899
                       Tuesday Dec 12th
  At a Regular Term of the Circuit Court of the Fifth Judicial Circuit
of Florida in and for the County of Alachua for the Fall Term AD 1899
begun and holden on this the 12th day of December 1899 at the Court
House in the city of Gainesville Alachua County Florida the following
proceedings were begun & held to wit: At which was present his
honor W.A. Hocker Judge of the Fifth Judicial Circuit of Florida
L.W. Fennell Sheriff of Alachua County Syd L. Carter Esquire State
Attorney & H.C. Denton Clerk of this Court.
  It appearing to the Court that no jury was drawn at the last Term
of the Court by the Judge and that the Clerk of this Court after ten days
notice, previously given by posting in three public places and after
the sheriff had proclaimed the meeting and its purpose at the Court House
door did in the presence of the Sheriff and the County Judge in pursuance of
law at least fifteen days before this Term draw from the box containing
the names of the persons selected by the County Commissioners to serve as
jurors for the year 1899 the following named persons to serve as
jurors at this Term of the Court and a Venire for said persons was issued
by the Clerk of this Court and placed in the hands of the Sheriff and
return upon the same was made at 9.30 Oclock AM This the 12th
day of December 1899 at the openings of this Term of the Court
   Whereupon the Judge of the Court in Open Court placed the names
of said persons so returned and present and not excused in a box
and drew therefrom the names of the following persons as Grand Jurors
namely : Turner Knight W.H. Everitt Robert C. Davis F.M. Clemson
T.A. Carroll W.L. Bennett, M.G. Scott D.G. Roland S.D. Thomas
W.J. Hamilton C.C. Hammond B.B. Barco and M.D. Bryan and at the
same time drew the following named persons as petit jurors Viz -
J.M. Sykes, T.E. McDonald, E.C. Crosby, J.S. McCredie J.P. Jones, George
R. Evans W.H. Guthrie W.A. Smith, and Thomas McCredie
  Thereupon the Grand Jury by order of the Court were duly
sworn by the Clerk of this Court and retired to select their foreman
  And then after returned into open Court and announced that they had
selected James R. Flewellen (summoned as J.R. Flewellen) as their foreman
  Whereupon the Court after delivering the usual Charge instructed
the Grand Jury to retire to their room, in charge of the bailiff J.R.N.
Grissom who had been previously, sworn in as such by the Clerk
of this Court
   Whereupon for good and sufficient cause shown J.S. McCredie
one of the petit jurors was excused from further attendance upon the
Court.
   It appearing to the Court that by excuses and otherwise
there is a deficiency of four petit jurors to complete the panel of
the petit jury for this the first week of the Fall Term of the Circuit
Court AD 1899 It is therefore ordered that the Clerk of this Court
