Whereupon for good and sufficient cause J.R. Eddins
W.R. McKinstry and W.M. Bradford were excused from further
attendance upon the Court

Now this cause coming on to be heard Syd L. Carter
State attorney prosecuting in the name and by authority of
the State of Florida and the prisoner Willis Brice appearing
in open Court in his proper person was arraigned and upon
his arraignment pleaded in abatement
Whereupon Robert E. Davis having been appointed
Assistant State Attorney in the case of the State of Florida Vs
William Thomas charge with Rape was duly sworn in as
such assistant attorney by the Clerk of this Court

And now on this day this cause came on to be heard
Syd L. Carter State Attorney prosecuting in the name and
by authority of the State of Florida and the prisoner William
Thomas being in open Court in his proper person as well as
by his attorneys L.G. Carter and J.R. Willis Esquires was arraigned
and upon his arraignment saith that he is not guilty as
charged in the indictment against him, and for good and
evil puts himself upon God and the Country for trial.
Whereupon a jury was called and there came:
J.C. Hague & J.C. Havis and now the regular panel of the jury
being exhausted by reason of challenge & otherwise the Court
ordered the sheriff to summon talesmen from the bystanders
to complete the panel. And there came J.R. Pardue

A.A. McRae T.J. Griffin B.F. Hampton G.W. Sanderson & J.C. Peach
who were accepted And now the panel of the jury being
complete there came as jurors in this cause J.C. Hague
