                 Spring Term AD 1900
                  Wednesday May 23
Whereupon at the request of Syd L. Carter State Attorney Frank W. Pope was
duly sworn as Assistant State Attorney in the case of the State of Florida Vs
G. Towney Kennard.

      Vs          } Murder
G. Towney Kennard } W.C. Jackson  Evans Haile  Frank Clark
                And now on this day this cause came on
to be heard Syd L. Carter State Attorney prosecuting in the name
and by authority of the State of Florida and the prisoner G. Towney
Kennard, being now in open Court in the custody of the Sheriff of
Alachua County, was arraigned and upon his arraignment
saith that he is not guilty of the charge as alleged in the indictment
against him, and for good and evil puts himself upon God and
the Country for trial
  Whereupon a jury was called and there came Fernando Sanchez
John Vaughn. And now the regular panel of the petit jury for the
third week of this term being exhausted by reason of challenge and
otherwise, the Special Venire summoned to complete the jury in
this cause was called. And there came Balled Thomas, William
Adams, T.C. Hooper, J.O. Tyson E.L. Read C.F. Moore, T.C. Bryant
T.R. Lewis G.W. Roberts and Amos Stevens who were accepted
  And now the panel of the jury being complete there came as
jurors in this cause Fernando Sanchez  John Vaughn  Baled Thomas
William Adams T.C. Hooper J.O. Tyson E.L. Read  C.F. Moore T.C. Bryant
T.R. Lewis G.W. Roberts and Amos Stevens who were duly Empanelled and
sworn to well and truly try and true deliverance make between the
State of Florida and the prisoner at the bar whom you shall have
in charge according to the evidence And the Jury aforesaid after
hearing a part of the evidence, the further hearing of this cause
was postponed until tomorrow morning at Nine Oclock
  Thereupon Z.T. Taylor Jr. was duly sworn as bailiff to
the Jury in the above stated cause by the Clerk of this Court
   Whereupon Court adjourned until tomorrow morning
at Nine O'clock

                   Thursday May 24, 1900

          Court met this day pursuant to adjournment of
yesterday his Honor W.A. Hocker Judge presiding
