Dear Sir,
Yours of the 7th Inst was duly recd
but has been neglected in consequence of a press of business - In answer to
your inquiry respecting Mr. Charles Fitchett who formerly resided in this
County, I take pleasure in informing you that he was never convicted
or indicted in this County of or for any crime whatever
He resided in this Town for several years, at two different times
and during the period of his last residence here I was well acquainted
with him and he was respected in this Community as an honest and
well conducted gentleman - I have been connected with the Clerk's Office of
the Superior Court inof this County for the last twelve or thirteen years An upon
examination of the Records I find no evidence of his ever having been indict
=ed in this County for any offence misdemeanor or crime whatever
Respectfully yours
