Know all men by these presents that I
Arthur Floyd of the Said State & County am held and
firmly bound unto Jessee T. Bernard his heirs and
assigns in the Sum of Six Thousand Dollars for the
payment whereof well and truly to be made I bind
myself my heirs executors and administrators firmly
by these presents: Signed and Sealed this Second day
of December A.D. 1851
The Condition of the above obligation is Such
that Whereas the above bound Arthur Floyd has
Sold to the Said Jessee T. Bernard the plantation
whereon the Said Floyd now resides one and a half
miles from the Town of Newnansville County & State
aforesaid, and designated by the United States
Survey as the South East quarter of Section One
and the North half of lot No. Three (3) of Section One of
the South East quarter of the North West quarter of
Section One in Township Eight South of Range Eighteen
East Containing Two hundred & forty and 15/100 acres
as per returns made by the U.S. Survey to the Land
Office at Newnansville Florida together: with all
appurtenances and Hereditaments thereunto belonging
Also Three Negro Slaves Viz One Negro Man named Sampson
aged about Twenty Six years, one Negro Man named
Charles aged about Twenty Six Years and One Negro Woman
named Tenah aged about Twenty Two years and the
Said Jesse T. Bernard has agreed to pay the Said
Arthur Floyd the Sum of Three Thousand Two hundred
Dollars for the Said Described tract of Land and the
Said Slaves above mentioned which amount of
money is to be paid in the following manner
to wit; Six hundred and fifty Dollars on the
first day of January in the Year One Thousand
Eight hundred & fifty Two and Two Thousand five
hundred and fifty Dollars on the first day of
January One thousand Eight hundred & fifty three
with interest at the rate of Eight per cent from
the first day of January 1852
