State of Georgia
Chatham County       This Indenture made this fourth day of August
in the year of our lord, one thousand eight hundred and forty eight,
Between George H. Johnston and Emily G. his wife, of the first part,
and George J. Kolloch of the Second part, all of said parties being of
the County of Chatham and State of Georgia aforesaid, Whereas by a
deed bearing date the ninth day of February in the year, one thousand
eight hundred and forty Six, the Said George H. and Emily G. his wife,
did convey for a valuable consideration, to the said George J. Kolloch
in fee simple, all those two certain tracts or parcels of land,
containing jointly fifteen hundred acres being and lying in the part
of the (then) Territory of Florida, Known as East Florida, and situated
as follows; one thousand acres at Yallahasasa, near Orange alias
Mizells Lake in the neighborhood of Alachua, and which is a
part of a two thousand acre grant made to George J.G. Clark of
said Territory; by the late Spanish Government, on the twelfth day
of January, in the year of our lord, one thousand eight hundred
and twelve, and five hundred acres in Chachala Hammock to the
westward of and bounding on Paynes Savannah, being part of a twenty
Six thousand acre grant made to the Said Clark by the Said Spanish
Government, on the Seventeenth day of December, in the year of our Lord
One thousand eight hundred and Seventeen, which said fifteen hundred
acres of land were conveyed to the Said George H. Johnston by said
George J.F. Clark, by deed bearing date the twenty third day of March,
in the year, One thousand eight hundred and twenty four, as will
more fully appear by reference to said deed, recorded in the office of
the Clerk of the County Court, for the County of St. Johns in
said Territory, on the Second day of June in the year one thousand
eight hundred and twenty four in Book E, page 38.
And whereas, since the time when such conveyance was made by
the said George H. Johnston and Emily G. his wife, to the Said George
J. Kolloch it hath been agreed between the Said parties that
the said George J. Kolloch should relinquish all claim to the
thousand acre tract mentioned in Said conveyance, and that the
Said conveyance should remain inoperative as to that tract, but
Should remain good and valid So far as the five hundred acre tract
was concerned, Now this Indenture Witnesseth, that the said George
H. Johnston and Emily G. his wife, for and in consideration of the
premises, and of the former valuable paid to him by the said George
J. Kolloch, and of the further sum of five dollars to them the said
George H. and Emily G. his wife by the said George J. Kolloch,
the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, they the Said George H.
Johnston and Emily G. his wife have bargained, Sold, aliened, remised
