The State of South Carolina
To all whom these presents shall come
in whom the same may in any wise concern I V.J. Tobias Assignee of
Cohen Hanckell and Company of Charleston in the County of Charleston
in said State Bankrupts send greeting. Whereas the said Cohen
Hanckel and Company were upon the ninth day of May AD 1874
adjudged Bankrupt when their petition by the District Court of
the United States for the District of South Carolina. And whereas
the rest and residue of their estates (embracing the lands hereinafter
mentioned and conveyed) was by operation of law vested in me the said
V.J. Tobias as their duly appointed assignee. And whereas I the
said V.J. Tobias, assignee as aforesaid in obedience to orders of sale
issued at the suit of V.J. Tobias assignee of Cohen Hanckel and Company
Bankrupts against J. Burnett Cohen Executor Dated 9" March and 2"
April 1874 and to me directed by the District Court of the United States
for the District of South Carolina did as duly advertised at Gainesville
in the County of Alachua in the State of Florida upon the Seventh day
of April AD 1874 proceed to sell at public auction the lands hereinafter
mentioned and conveyed being a part of the estate of Cohen Hanckell
and Company to wit - Jacob Cohen one of the firm of Cohen Hanckell
and Company Bankrupts which lands were duly purchased by
Robert Y.H. Thomas and Cosmo O. Bailey they being the highest bidder
at the said sale. Now therefore this Indenture witnesseth that I the said
V.J. Tobias as assignee as aforesaid for and in consideration of the sum
of Forty five Dollars ($45) to me in hand paid the receipt whereof is
hereby acknowledged have granted bargained sold and released
and by these presents do grant bargain sell and release unto the
said Robert Y.H. Thomas and Cosmo O. Bailey all and singular my
right title and Estate of in and to H. Thomas and Cosmo O. Bailey all
and singular my right interest of in and to All that parcel of land
Known and described as Section Thirty (30) of Township (9) of Range
Twenty (20) of the Arrendondo grant in the County of Alachua in
the State of Florida less Sixty acres in the South east corner of
said section and less the South west quarter of said Section containing
one hundred and Sixty acres more or less this day conveyed by
me to William K. Cessna. The piece or tract now conveyed containing
about Four hundred and twenty (420) acres more or less and
is a part of all that land conveyed by George L. Barnes Sheriff
of Alachua County to Jacob Cohen by deed dated 9" April 1870 and
secured in Book H page 281 on June 1, 1870 Together with all
and singular the rights members hereditaments and appurtenances
whatsoever to the said piece parcel or tract of land belonging or in anywise
incident or appertaining and the reversions and remainders rents issues
and profits thereof and also the estate right title interest & dower possession
property claim and demand whatsoever both at law and in Equity of
the said Cohen and company and Jacob Cohen and of all other persons rightly
claiming or to claim the same or any part thereof. To have and to hold
the said piece or parcel of land with its hereditaments privileges
