County of Alachua } Know all men by these presents that we Robt
Y.H. Thomas and Mary R. Thomas his wife of State and County
aforesaid for and in consideration of the sum of five hundred
dollars to them in hand paid by Mary Jane Brown (formerly Mary
Jane Hicks) the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have gran-
ted bargained sold and conveyed and by these presents do grant
bargain sell and convey unto the said Mary Jane Brown former
ly Mary Jane Hicks) and to her heirs all of that certain piece or
parcel of land lying and being in the County of Alachua in the
State of Florida in the town of Gainesville particularly described as
beginning at the North East corner of lot no thirty seven (37) of
the survey made by S.F. Halliday of what is known as Brown's Addition
to Gainesville thence West along the northern boundary of said lot no
        thence South six hundred and thirty (630) feet
thirty seven (37) two hundred and eighty five (285) feet^to the southern
boundary of said lot thence East two hundred and eighty five (285)
feet Thence north along the Eastern boundary of said lot six
hundred and thirty (630) feet to the place of beginning containing
four acres more or less together with all and singular the tenements
hereditaments and appurtenances. To have and to hold the same
to her the said Mary J. Brown (formerly Mary Jane Hicks) and to her
heirs in fee simple forever. In testimony whereof we hereunto
set our hands and affix our seals this the 17th day of January AD
1876

State of Florida  } Before me personally came Mary R. Thomas
County of Alachua } wife of Robt Y.H. Thomas who being first duly
questioned and examined by me separate and apart from her said hus
band says and acknowledges that she executed the foregoing deed of con-
veyance for the purpose of releasing and relinquishing all right of
dower in the premises thereby conveyed and that she executed the same
freely voluntarily and without any compulsion constraint apprehen-
sion or fear of or from her said husband.

State of Florida  } Before me personally came F.A. Shannon who
County of Alachua } being duly sworn says that he saw Robt Y.H.
Thomas and Mary R. Thomas his wife sign seal and deliver the
foregoing deed of conveyance for the purposes therein contained and
expressed and that he together with R.F. Taylor signed the same as
subscribing witnesses thereto
