Alachua County } Whereas under and by virtue of a decree of foreclosure
of Mortgage rendered in the Circuit Court of Alachua County
in the 5th Judicial Circuit of Florida, In Chancery in favor
of John L. Black against L.A. Barnes as sheriff and ex
officio Administrator of the estate of John E. Hicks deceased
I James D. Mathison was duly authorized and empowered as
Elisor to make sale of the lands mentioned in said decree
and whereas under and by virtue of said decree of Foreclosure
of Mortgage I did as such Elisor duly advertise the lands
hereinafter described to be sold at public outcry before the Court
House door in the Town of Gainesville Fla to satisfy said decree
of Foreclosure of Mortgage on Monday the 3rd day of July AD
1876. And did on said day, pursuant to said notice duly
given, sell the same at public outcry before the Court House
door in the Town of Gainesville Fla, according to law, and
whereas at said sale Rollins M. Witt became the purchaser
of said land hereinafter described for the sum of One Hundred
and Fifty Dollars that being the highest sum bid for the
same at said sale and he being the bidder thereof = Now,
therefore, Know all men by these presents that I James D.
Mathison as such Elisor for and in consideration of the said
sum of One Hundred and Fifty Dollars to me in hand paid by
said Rollins M. Witt, have granted, bargained, sold and conveyed
and by these presents do grant, bargain, sell and convey unto
him the said Rollins M. Witt one half of that certain parcel
of land in Alachua County, Fla, Known as Section Twelve (12)
Township Ten (10) Range Nineteen (19) East, containing (637)
acres more or less together with all and singular the
Tenements, hereditaments and appurtenances to the same
belonging, or in anywise appurtaining = To have and to hold
the same to him the said Rollins M. Witt his heirs, executors
administrators, and assigns in fee simple forever, as fully
as I the said Elisor under and by virtue of said decree of
Foreclosure might or could sell and convey the same
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal
affixed my seal on this 3rd day of July AD 1876.
