This Indenture Made this the Fifteenth
day of January In the year of our Lord one thousand eight
hundred and seventy seven between Sophia Harmon of the Town
of Gainesville of the County of Alachua and State of Florida
part of the first part, and N.B. Sterritt, Samuel Debose, Peter
Johnson, N.N. Gaines & Edward Woodard of the County Alachua
and State of Florida aforesaid, part of the second part,
Trustees in trust for The African M.E. Church
Witnesseth, That the said part of the first part
for and in consideration of the sum of One Hundred & Twenty Five
Dollars to in hand paid by the said part of the second part,
at or before the ensealing and delivery of these presents, the
receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, bargained, sold,
released, granted, conveyed, and confirmed, and by these presents
- bargain, sell, release, grant, convey, and confirm, unto the
said party of the second part, their successors in office, heirs
and assigns forever, all that certain parcel land being and
lying in the town of Gainesville and known on the Map
of M.A. Williams, as of the Brush's extension of the town of
Gainesville the same being the South East corner of Lot Number
fourteen (14) One Hundred feet square Running East, West, North and
South, each One Hundred feet upon which the said Trustees or their
Successors in office, shall cause to be, erected a Church & house
for the Worship of "Almighty God" and such other buildings as
may be needed for the Benefit of said Church and the comfort
and care of the Pastor & his family.
