James M. Sparkman and Wife to Thomas Baker
"Deed"
State of Florida } Know all men by these Presents that We James M. Sparkman and his wife
Alachua County } Sinai Sparkman of the aforesaid County and State for and in consideration of
the sum of Two hundred & twenty five dollars to us in hand paid by Thomas Baker of the
County of Bristol in the State of Massachusetts the receipt whereof we do hereby acknowledge have
granted bargained sold and conveyed and by these presents do grant bargain sell and convey unto
him the said Thomas Baker all of that certain lot piece tract or parcel of land Situated lying
and being in the County of Alachua in the State of Florida Particularly known and described as
follows to wit: Commencing at a Stake on the Northern boundary line of Section Seventeen (17) in Township
Nine (9) South of Range Twenty one (21) East which Stake Stands Two hundred and Twenty (220) Yards
West from the North East corner of said Section thence from Said Stake run West one hundred
and Sixty five (165) yards thence South Four hundred and forty (440) Yards thence East one hundred
and Sixty five (165) Yards thence North Four hundred and forty (440) yards to the place of
beginning containing Fifteen (15) acres of land more or less, the same being a portion of the North half
of the North East quarter of said Section Seventeen (17) in Township Nine (9) South of Range Twenty
one (21) East - Containing by estimation Fifteen acres of land more or less. Together with all and
Singular the tenements hereditaments and appurtenances to the same belonging or in anywise appertaining
To Have and Hold the same unto Him the said Thomas Baker and to his heirs executors
administrators and assigns in fee simple and absolute. And we the said James M. Sparkman
and Sinai Sparkman his wife do hereby covenant and agree to and with the said Thomas Baker
that we are lawfully seized in fee of the property herein and hereby conveyed and that we have
good and lawful right to sell and convey the same that the same is free from all encumbrances of
any kind whatsoever and that we will and our heirs executors and administrators shall and will
forever warrant and defend the same unto him the said Thomas Baker and to his heirs executors administrators and
assigns against the lawful claims and demands of any and all persons whomsoever now claiming or hereafter to
claim the same. In Witness Whereof we have hereunto set our hands and affixed our seals on this 3rd day of
April AD 1882

State of Florida } I hereby certify that on this 3rd day of April AD 1882 before me personally appeared
Alachua County } Mrs Sinai Sparkman wife of James M. Sparkman the Grantor in the foregoing
conveyance who being first duly questioned and examined by me separate and Apart from her said
husband says and acknowledges before me that she did sign the said deed of conveyance for
the purpose of releasing relinquishing and announcing all of her right of Dower in and to the
land in said deed described, and that said relinquishment and renunciation of Dower was done and
made by her freely and voluntarily and without any compulsion constraint apprehension or fear
of or from her Said husband
