J.B. Brown and Wife To West Mathews
                        "Deed"
State of Florida } Know all men by these Presents that we J.B. Brown
Alachua County   } & Ella D. Brown his wife of the aforesaid County and
and State for and in consideration of the sum of One Hundred dollars
to them in hand paid by West Mathews of City of Gainesville of the
County of Alachua in the State of Florida the receipt whereof we do
hereby acknowledge have granted bargained sold and conveyed and
by these presents do grant bargain sell and convey unto him the said
West Mathews all of that certain lot piece tract or parcel of land
situated lying and being in the County of Alachua in the State of
Florida particularly known and described as follows to wit:
Situate in the Town of Gainesville and bounded by lot of land of
James Gordan on the West; By Street on the South and East and
on the North by Lot sold to Mitchell Jones or J.J. Thompson containing
two and a half (2 1/2) acres more or less. Containing by Estimation 2 1/2
acres of land more or less Together with all and singular the
tenements hereditaments and appurtenances to the same belonging
or in anywise appertaining. To Have and Hold the same unto
him the said West Mathews and to his heirs executors
administrators and assigns in fee simple and absolute. And we
the said J.B. Brown and Ella E. Brown do hereby covenant and 
agree to and with the said West Mathews that they lawfully
seized in fee of the property herein and hereby conveyed and that we
have good and lawful right to sell and convey the same that the
same is free from all encumbrances of any kind whatsoever and that
they will and their heirs executors and administrators shall and
will forever warrant and defend the same unto him the said West
Mathews and to his heirs executors administrators and assigns against
the lawful claims and demands of any and all persons whomsoever
now claiming or hereafter to claim the same. In Witness Whereof we have
hereunto set our hands and affixed our seals on this 21st day of January

Alachua County   } I hereby certify that on this 21st day of
January AD 1882 before me personally appeared Mrs Ella D. Brown
wife of J.B. Brown the grantor in the foregoing conveyance who being
first duly questioned and examined by me, separate and apart from
her said husband says and acknowledges before me that she did
sign the said deed of conveyance for the purpose of releasing
relinquishing and announcing all of her right of Dower in and to
the land in said deed described and that said relinquishment and
renunciation of Dower was done and made by her freely and voluntarily
and without any compulsion constraint apprehension or fear of or from her
