Alachua County   } Whereas the Board of County Commission
ers of said County and State at a meeting held
the first Tuesday in January AD 1883, by order 2061
Minutes of County Commissioners appointed the sum
of Three Hundred Dollars to aid the City of Gainesv
ille in constructing an artesian well for the use
and convience of the Citizens of Gainesville and the
County of Alachua and the public generally and
authorized and empowered me George K. Broome, as
President of the Board of County Commissioners to
give permission to the City of Gainesville to construct
said Well upon the Court House Square and to have the
controll and management of the same for the use and
privileges of the people of the City County and public gen
erally Now in consideration of the premises and in cons
ideration that the said City of Gainesville will bore and
construct an artesian well on the Court House square
I George K. Broome as president of the Board of County
Commissioners in pursuant of the power given to me as
aforesaid do hereby and herein grant and give to the
City Council of the City of Gainesville, a corporate
body of the State of Florida full power right and
authority to bore and construct an artesian well
as aforesaid upon the Court House Square of
