          Alachua County   } Know all men by these presents that I, J.C.
Veeder of the State and County aforesaid am held and firmly bound unto
L.W. Jackson of said State and County in the full and first sum of Two
Hundred and Sixty five ($26500) dollars for the payment whereof well
and truly to be made I bind myself my heirs executors and administrators
jointly and severally firmly by these presents. Sealed with my seal and
signed at Gainesville in said State and County on this 25th day of
February AD 1885. The Condition of this obligation is such that whereas
I have this day bargained sold and agreed to convey to the said L.W.
Jackson the following described lot tract piece or parcel of land
lying and being in the aforesaid State and County and in Section
Sixteen (16) Township Ten (10) South Range Twenty (20) East described
as follows to wit: Beginning at the North West corner of a Twenty-acre
tract now owned by W.W. Scott (in said Section and running thence
South along the Western boundary line of said Twenty acre tract Thirteen
hundred and Twenty feet (1320 ft) to the South West corner of said
tract of Twenty acres Thence West Fifteen Hundred (1500) feet to the
run of "Sweet Water Branch" (at or near where the Eastern boundary line
of the "D.L. Clinch Grant" crosses the run of said "Branch" Thence
up the run of said Branch to a point due West of the point of
beginning Thence East Six Hundred and Eighty (680) feet to the 
point of Beginning Containing by Estimation Twenty six and a half
(26 1/2) acres of land more or less, and whereas the said L.W. Jackson has
this day paid me Fifty ($5000) dollars of the purchase money
agreed to be paid for the said tract of land and has made and delivered
to me his promissory note bearing even date herewith for the sum
of Eighty two 50/100 dollars the same being the amount of the unpaid 
balance of said purchase money and the said note being due and
payable on or before the first day of June Next (without interest) now if
the said L.W. Jackson shall well and truly pay or cause to be paid
the said sum of money mentioned in the said note at or before the
maturity of said note and according to the true intent and tenor
thereof then and in that case I am held and firmly bound by these
presents to make or cause to be made unto him the said L.W. Jackson (or
to such other person or persons as he may direct) a good sufficient
clear and unincumbered title deed to the above described tract of land
But should the said L.W. Jackson fail to pay the said money mentioned
in said note at or before the maturity thereof then this obligation to become
