In the matter of County taxes It is ordered by the
Board that a tax of five per cent on the State tax be assessed
and collected by the assessor for County purposes for the present year

In the matter of the County Treasurer it is ordered by
the Board that John W. Pearson Treasurer for he County of Alachua
do appear before the Board on the first Monday next to make a report
of his Acts and doings as said Treasurer And turn over all the
assets in his hands belonging to the County
It is ordered by the Board that the County Treasurer pay
to Samuel B. Colding, Asa Clark Commissioners & Charles F. Fitchet
Judge of Probate and President of said Board two dollars each
for their attendance as Commissioners One day ----
There being no other business before the Court, It is
ordered that it stand adjourned until the first Monday in May

We the Subscribers and Judge of Probate
for the County aforesaid And inhabitants of said County having
the qualification of Voters therein Selected by said Judge of Probate
to assist him in Canvassing And Counting the votes given for the
Office of Sheriff at a Special election to fill a vacancy on
Monday the 17th day of April A.D. 1848. As shown by the
returns filed in the office of said Judge at an election held
at the several precincts in said County on Monday the
17th day of April A.D. 1848.
After having Carefully Canvassed and Counted the
votes, do hereby Certify that the following is a true return of
the votes given at said election, to wit.
The whole number of votes given for the office of Sheriff
is fifty nine and of these Thomas C. Ellis received fifty nine votes
this 27th day of April A.D. 1848 }
