putting them in when done in a strong and workman-
like manner and that B.M. Dell will furnish the iron
free grates for said grates - And that he County Treasurer
pay B. M. Dell four hundred dollars for the building of
said jail, When received by the Commissioners
In the matter of having a desk made for the
Probates Office and Samuel W. Burnett being employed to
build said desk and having built one agreeable to Contract
and presented his account for payment, it is ordered by the
Board that the County Treasurer pay to Samuel W. Burnett
thirty dollars for said desk.
It is ordered that the President of this Board, Asa Clark
Peter Sparkman and Samuel B. Colding be paid two dollars
each by the County Treasurer for this days service for attending
on the Board of commissioners.
There being no other business before the Court it is
ordered by the Board that the Court stand adjourned untill
the first Monday in September next

County of Alachua } S.S. We the Subscribers and Judge of
Probates for the County aforesaid and inhabitants of said County
having the qualification of voters therein, Selected by said
Judge of Probate to assist him in Canvassing and Counting the
votes given for each Office and for the several persons for
each Office as shown by the returns filed in the Office of
said judge at an election held at the several precincts
in said County on Monday the 2nd day of October A.D. 1848
After have carefully Canvassed and Counted the votes hereby
Certify that the following is a true return of the votes given
at said Election Viz.
The whole number of votes given for the Office of
Governor is three hundred and two (302) votes, And that
of these votes William Bailey received One hundred and sixty
three (163) votes and Thomas Brown received one hundred
