State of Florida  }  We the Subscribers and Judge of Probate of said County 
County of Alachua }  having the qualifications of voters therein and being 
selected by the said Judge of Probate to assist him in Canvassing and Counting 
the votes given for each office as shown by the returns filed in the Office 
of said Judge at an election held at the several precincts in said County 
on Monday the 6th day of October A.D. 1851. 
        After having Carefully Canvassed and Counted the votes hereby certify 
under our hands the following is a true return of the votes given at said 
election.  Viz. --- 
        The whole number of votes given for the Office of Sheriff was 
two hundred and ninety votes (290) And of these votes Charles L. Wilson 
received One hundred and eighty two votes (182) And Joel B Smith received 
One hundred and eight votes (108) --- 
        The whole number of votes given for the Office of the Clerk of 
the Circuit Court was One hundred and seventy one votes (171) And of these 
votes Samuel Russel received One hundred and seventy one votes (171) --- 
        The whole number of votes given for the Office of County Surveyor 
was one hundred and seventy six votes (176) And of these votes George Watson
received One hundred and Seventy six votes (176) --- 
        The whole number of votes given for the Office of Coroner was thirty 
two votes (32) And of these votes John T. Prevatt received thirty two votes (32)
        The whole number of votes given for the Offices of County 
Commissioners,was nine hundred and twenty five votes (925) And of these votes
George L. Brown received one hundred and four votes (104) and John B. Standley 
received One hundred and twenty two votes (122) and Wyatt C. Allen received 
two hundred and seventeen votes (217) and James Bevil received eighty nine 
votes (89) And Thomas J. Prevatt received eighty six votes (86) and Wm D. Clark
received twenty nine votes (29) and Wm H. Brooks received One hundred and 
thirteen votes (113) And Wm J. Turner received one hundred and fifteen votes 
(115) And Josiah Seckinger received two votes (2) James D. Colding 
received twenty votes (20) and J.M. Sparkman received two votes (2)
